Raw Material of Copper Mould Tubes
To provide mould tubes with optimal physical and mechanical properties to customers' specifications, mould tube products are supplied of the following materials:
  1. Cu-DHP: Normally used for mould tubes section size below 180x180mm and round tubes below Dia.150mm.
   2. Cu-Ag: Normally used for mould tube section size above 180x180mm and round tubes above Dia.150mm
   3. Cu-Cr-Zr: Normally used for beam blank mould tubes

These materials have different levels of hardness and thermal conductivities. We are highly experienced in choosing proper materials to meet the specific demands in heat resistance and thermal conductivities of customers' applications.

Extra-long service-life is achieved with the special multilayer Ni-Co-Cr coating, which features high microhardness and optimum binding strength with the copper base.

The tubes are designed for maximum heat transfer rate from the meniscus down to the bottom of the tube.  The taper-geometry depends on the steel-grades and casting conditions and is designed with the aim of minimizing the gap between the solidifying shell and the copper tube.

The Taper of Copper Moulds is of vital importance to performance and life.

TAPER
During steel solidifying, there might be an air gap between the steel strand and the mould inside the wall, which will reduce the thermal conduction of steel. In order to minimize the formation of such an air gap, the taper of mould should be properly designed to follow the shrinkage curve to the maximum extent. Thus, different taper designs have been provided, such as single, double, triple or multi-taper or parabolic taper depending on factors such as steel grade, casting speed, cooling condition etc.

RICH CHROME PLATING
Chrome plating is furnished to the inside wall of the copper mould tube so as to increase the wear resistance and improve the service life of the tube. Chrome Coating thickness of around 0.10mm is recommended.
