Description:

1. Transparent film dressings provide a moist, healing environment; promote autolytic   debridement;
   Protect the wound from mechanical trauma and bacterial invasion; and act as a blister roof or "second skin."
   Because they're flexible, these dressings can conform to wounds located in awkward locations such as the elbow.
   The transparency makes it easy to visualize the wound bed.

2. Transparent film dressings are waterproof and impermeable to bacteria and contaminants. Although these dressings can't  absorb fluid,
   they're permeable to moisture-allowing one-way passage of carbon dioxide and excess moisture vapor away from the wound.

Precautions:

1. Stop any bleeding at the site before applying the dressing

2. Do not stretch the dressing during application as tension can cause skin trauma

3. Make sure the skin is clean, free of soap residue and lotion and allowed to dry thoroughly before
     applying the dressing to prevent skin irritation and to ensure good adhesion

4. The dressing may be used on an infected site, only when under the care of a health care professional

5. Transparent Dressings should not be re-sterilized by gamma, E-beam or steam methods
