Large Scale Grinding Ball Mill for Mining Portland Cement Ball mill is a type of grinder, is a cylindrical device used in grinding (or mixing) materials like ores, chemicals, ceramic raw materials and paints. Ball mills rotate around a horizontal axis, partially filled with the material to be ground plus the grinding medium. Different materials are used as media, including ceramic balls, flint pebbles andstainless steel balls. An internal cascading effect reduces the material to a fine powder. The critical speed can be understood as that speed after which the steel balls (which are responsible for the grinding of particles) start rotating along the direction of the cylindrical device; thus causing no further grinding.
Structure of Ball MillBall mill is mainly composed of feeding part, discharging part, rotating part, transmission part (reducer, pinion, electric motor and electric control) and so on. Its hollow shaft is made of cast steel and inner lining is detachable and can be replaced. The rotating big gear is processed by casting hobbing machine. The main body of ball mill includes cylinder equipped with wear-resistant liners, bearing which supports the cylinder and maintains the cylinder's rotation, the drive part such as motor, gears, pulleys, V-belt, etc.Classification of Ball MillAccording to different ways of discharging material, there are two kinds of ball mills, grate type and overfall type.
