Flubendazole is a synthetic benzimidazole deworming agent that inhibits the aggregation of microtubules in nematodes.It has a strong affinity with tubulins (dimeric subunit proteins of microtubules) and inhibits the aggregation of microtubules in absorbent cells (i.e. in nematode gut cells), as demonstrated by the disappearance of (fine) cytoplasmic microtubules and the accumulation of secretory particles in the cytoplasm due to transport disruption.
As a result, the membrane envelope becomes thinner and the ability to digest and absorb nutrients is reduced.The cells undergo lytic degeneration due to the accumulation of secreted substances (hydrolases and proteolytic enzymes), resulting in the death of the parasite.Flubendazole is a broad-spectrum deworming agent that is effective in the treatment of dog parasites, such as gastrointestinal roundworm, hookworm and whipworm.
