The OptiX OSN 1800 series are designed for metropolitan edge applications, including metropolitan convergence layer and access layer.

They can be placed in the uplink direction of a broadband or mobile bearer equipment.

After being processed in the metropolitan access layer network, the broadband, SDH, or Ethernet services are sent to the convergence node in the metropolitan transport network.

In this way, the services are extended to the access layer, together with the use of existing OptiX WDM equipment.

In a network with low capacity, the OptiX OSN 1800 series can be used at the metropolitan core layer.
