Polyoxymethylene (POM)
Polyoxymethylene (POM), also known as polyacetals or polyformaldehyde, is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic resin characterized by high strength, hardness, rigidity and lubricate properties. POM is commonly used in gears, buckles and fittings.
Commercially, there are two types of POM available: POM homopolymer, that are mainly polyoxymethylene molecular chain made from formaldehyde bonds. POM copolymer, where trioxane anddioxolane are copolymerize. Homopolymer of POM are general characterize by high heat, strength and stiffness while copolymer of POM are more thermally stable due to presence of carbon-carbon chain and resistance to hot water and weak alkalis.
Advantage
1, impact resistance: used in engineering plastics, has the best impact resistance resin.
2. Transparency: The transmittance of visible light is 80-90%.
3. Stable forming size: Polycarbonate is an amorphous resin with low shrinkage and stable forming size.In addition, peristaltic deformation and water absorption size changes are small, and the forming size is stable, suitable for precision forming products.
4. Non-combustibility: Polycarbonate has a good self-extinguishing property, suitable for electrical products,automobiles,building materials and other applications.
5. Weather resistance: Polycarbonate has excellent weather resistance (ultraviolet linear resistance), and can be used for outdoor use, automobile lamps, etc.
6, non-toxicity: does not contain general plasticizer and other additives, does not contain toxicity.
7, electrical characteristics: suitable for a wide range of temperature applications, electrical characteristics change little,good insulation

- Automotive: Fuel sender unit, light stock (including shifter for light, turn signal), power windows, door lock systems, articulated shells;
- Model: Model railway parts, such as bogies and handle bars. POM breaks under load slightly less than ABS, but in bright translucent colors, and not paintable;
- Medical: Insulinpen, metered dose inhalers (MDI);
- Furniture: Hardware, locks, handles, hinges;
- Construction: Structural Glass - pod holder for point;
- Dining: Knife handles (particularly folding knives);
- Horology: Watch bracelets (e.g., IWC Porsche Design 3701);
- Hobbies: Radio-controlled helicopter main gear, landing skid etc.
