This PCR test kit is a traditionally liquid form , with several tubes containing different components . To maintain its quality after manufacturing , the components are stored frozen at-20c in a medical freezer . Usually ,up to three times of freeze-thaw cycle is allowable before degradation starts to occur , affecting the performance activity of the assays. Using a pipette , specified volumes of the PCR components are mixed together to form what is called a PCR master mix . A certain volume of the master mix as required by the manual will then be aliquoted into each PCR well before samples are added . Hereafter , the PCR test can begin.

This RT-PCR kit enables cDNA synthesis from RNA samples followed by PCR amplification. Included within the kit are the necessary components for the two subsequent reactions, including reverse transcriptase, polymerase, buffer, and dNTPs. Additional components such as RNase inhibitors and enhancers may also be included. "One-step" RT-PCR kits allow both cDNA synthesis and PCR to take place in a single tube, simplifying the process.
