The tensile strength of ductile iron is 60k, while the tensile strength of Gray cast iron is only 31k.The yield strength of ductile iron is 40k,while Gray cast iron did non yield strength. The strenght and cost of ductile cast iron is much superior the Gray cast iron.Ductile cast iron and Grey Cast Iron in the corrosion resistance is in the same.    
Ductile cast iron has the same strength of cast steel, but also has excellent corrosion resistance, and the cost of ductile cast iron is lower than cast steel.
