China Carbon Disulfide, Find details about China Alcohol of Sulfur, Dithiocarbonic Anhydride from Carbon Disulfide
Basic facts:
Carbon disulfide, or CS2, has molecular weight of 76.13 and is an important chemical raw material that finds wide application in artificial fiber, cellophane, chemical engineering, agricultural chemicals, rubber, metallurgy, and oil refining etc.
Applications:
The most important use of carbon disulfide is to make viscose rayon and viscose stable fiber, accounting for 75% of the gross amount. Carbon disulfide used for making cellophane accounts for 5% of the gross amount;, less than 10% of carbon disulfide is used in carbon tetrachloride; and the rest is used in chemical engineering, rubber, flotation agent, agricultural chemicals, pharmaceuticals, dyes, and petroleum industry. In addition, carbon disulfide and its derivatives are used to make solvents, extractants, pre-curing catalysts, and chemical reagents etc.
Storage & transport:
Carbon disulfide is stored in airtight aluminum barrel and tank lorry. During transportation, it should not be stored together with organic matters and contact with oxidants, glues, alkali metals should be avoided. Keep it away from kindling and heat sources. Besides, guard against flames and smoke during the period of storage & transportation.
Physical properties:
Pure carbon disulfide is a colorless, transparent, and fragrant liquid, slightly soluble in water and a good solvent for organic matters. Carbon disulfide as crude product contains a trace quantity of sulfur, hydrogen sulfide, or other impurities, appears pale yellow, and has a pungent odor. It is highly volatile, with volatility 1.6 times higher than ether. Inflammable, carbon disulfide has an auto-ignition temperature of 100C and a flash point of -30C. Additionally, the chemical is poisonous and harmful to organisms.

Protective measures:
Engineering control: airtight operation, with local ventilation.
Respiratory system protection: Unallowable high concentration in air justifies use of gas mask. For emergency rescuing or escaping from the site, a self-contained respirator is recommended.
Eye protection: Protective mask may be used.
Protective clothing: Wear suitable protective clothing.
Hand protection: Wear a pair of protective glove.
Others: Smoking is forbidden at the working site. After the work, take a shower and change clothes. Pay attention to personal hygiene.
