Roxithromycin has a slightly worse effect on Gram-positive bacteria than erythromycin, and has a stronger effect on Legionella pneumophila than erythromycin. The antimicrobial effect of Chlamydia pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Ureaplasma urealyticum is similar to or slightly stronger than that of erythromycin.
