A: Liquid crystal can be divided into lyotropic liquid crystal polymers and thermotropic liquid crystal polymers. The former is liquid crystal in solvent and the latter is liquid crystal due to temperature change.
B: The main chain of the liquid crystal polymer molecule is rigid, tightly stacked between molecules, and highly oriented in the molding process, so it has a small linear expansion coefficient, low molding shrinkage and very outstanding strength and elastic modulus and excellent heat resistance, with high load deformation temperature, some can be as high as 340ºC above.
C: LCP has good weather resistance, radiation resistance and excellent flame retardancy, which can extinguish the flame and stop burning. Its combustion grade reaches ul94V-0 level. LCP plastic material is one of the special plastics with the best fire safety.
D: General thermotropic liquid crystal polymers have good fluidity and are easy to process. The molding product has the unique skin core structure of liquid crystal polymer, and the resin itself has the fiber nature, and has a high orientation in the molten state, so it can play the effect of fiber enhancement. This is also the most striking feature of liquid crystal polymers.
E: Thermotropic liquid crystal polymer can also be made into polymer blends with a variety of plastics. In these blends, liquid crystal polymer plays the role of glass fiber reinforcement, which can greatly improve the strength, rigidity and heat resistance of materials.
F: LCP plastic material density is 1.4~1.7g/cm3. Liquid crystal polymer has high strength, high modulus of mechanical properties,due to its structural characteristics and self-reinforcing, so the liquid crystal plastic without strengthening can reach or even exceed the level of mechanical strength and modulus of ordinary engineering plastics reinforced with dozens of glass fiber; If reinforced with glass fiber, carbon fiber and so on, it is far more than other engineering plastics.
G: LCP liquid crystal polymer also has excellent thermal stability, heat resistance and chemical resistance, for most of the
plastic creep defects, liquid crystal material can be ignored, and wear resistance, wear reduction are excellent.
H: LCP plastic material has excellent electrical insulation performance. Its dielectric strength is higher than that of ordinary engineering plastics and its arc resistance is good. As electrical application parts, its electrical properties are not affected when the continuous operating temperature is 200~300ºC. The discontinuous service temperature can reach about 316ºC.
I: LCP plastic raw materials have outstanding corrosion resistance. LCP products will not be eroded in the presence of 90% acid and 50% alkali. For industrial solvents, fuel oil, detergent and hot water, they will not be dissolved or cause stress cracking upon contact.
LCP plastic material injection molding process
LCP plastic raw material forming temperature is high, because of its different varieties, melting temperature in the range of 300~425ºC.
LCP melt has low viscosity and good fluidity, similar to olefin plastics.
LCP has minimal linear expansion coefficient and good dimensional stability. Forming processing conditions for reference: forming temperature 300~390ºC; Mold temperature 100~260ºC; Forming pressure 7~100MPa, compression ratio 2.5~4, forming shrinkage rate 0.1~0.6.
