Hot SalesGeneral KnowledgeAbstract: Quartz clock is a very common type of wall clock. Quartz clock movements are divided into jumping seconds and sweeping seconds. The jumping seconds movement means that the second hand of the clock will jump and rotate, and it will make a slight "tick" sound. In the sweeping second movement, the second hand rotates at a constant speed without making a "tick" sound. So, which one is better for a jumping second movement? In fact, there is not much difference between the two, mainly the sound. If you like quiet, then the sweeping movement is better, if you like rhythm, then the jumping second movement is better. In addition, many people like to compare quartz movements with mechanical movements. What is the difference between the two? Let's take a look together.
Which is better, the jumping second movement and the sweeping second movement?
1. Definition
The jumping second movement means that the second hand of the clock will beating and rotating. When the second is jumping, the human eye can feel the second hand beating, usually at one second interval.
Sweep second movement, usually called silent movement, the second hand rotates at a constant speed.
2. Principle
From the structural principle, the difference between these two types of movement is not big, the main difference is that their motor frequency is different. The frequency of the quartz clock with continuous needle movement is relatively high, about tens to hundreds of Hz. Because the motor speed is high, the gear train is a little more complicated; while in the form of jumping seconds, the motor frequency is only 1 Hz, and the motor rotor per second It only rotates 180 degrees, and the rotation is also stepwise and intermittent. The most common quartz clock now moves like one beat per second.
3. Sound
There will be a slight sound from the jumping second movement, but a good jumping second movement is very small, and you can hardly hear the sound without putting your ears on it; the sweeping second movement is completely silent.
The difference between a quartz movement and a mechanical movement
1. Different accuracy
There is a quartz oscillator in the quartz movement, which will vibrate at a predetermined frequency after power on, so the time is very accurate, with an error range of ±15 seconds/month; the accuracy of the mechanical movement is poor and needs to be adjusted daily.
2. The price is different
The mechanical movement is more expensive due to its complicated production; the quartz movement is cheaper due to the simple process.
3. Different life span
The life of a quartz movement is usually only a dozen years and it will not run continuously; otherwise, a mechanical movement can almost always run if it is well maintained.
4. Different stability
The quartz movement has a simple structure, so it is durable and solid, and will basically not be damaged due to vibration, etc.; the mechanical movement is more delicate. If it is not used carefully, it is not "waterproof, shockproof, and antimagnetic", it is easy to cause damage to the parts. Unstable operation.
