Properties: reddish brown or brownish red crystalline powder. Soluble in chloroform and dimethyl sulfoxide, soluble in ethyl acetate, methanol and tetrahydrofuran, propanol and carbon tetrachloride. The dried powder can be stable for more than 5 years and slightly soluble in water. Its aqueous solution fails at room temperature for 10h, but the addition of reducing agent (such as anti cyclic hematic acid) can reduce decomposition and is extremely stable in dimethyl sulfoxide

Purpose: biochemical research. It has strong bactericidal effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis and other mycobacteria, gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Inhibit DNA recombination and protein insertion into mature virus particles. By binding RNA polymerase β- Subunit inhibits the initiation of RNA synthesis.
