Each built up stainless steel letter is made from two component parts;

Face letter

This is a flat cut stainless steel letter cut via abrasive water jet in the typeface an the size you require.

Side return

The side return component of this product is the edging which gives your lettering the appearance of depth. A side return is in essence a strip of stainless steel cut to whatever depth you want; the depth you use creates the finished "depth" or thickness of the letter. Let's say you want built up stainless steel lettering which appears to be 50mm thick. To create this we machine a strip of stainless steel 50mm wide. The strip is measured to the exact length of the entire letter perimeter. Where we need to bend this strip round corners or curves we have markers which are placed on the stainless steel strip as bend points. The stainless steel return is then bent and formed to follow the perimeter of the flat cut face.

Once the returns have been formed they are welded onto the letter faces

The two most popular finishes for stainless steel built up lettering are;

Bright annealed
This is highly polished stainless steel sheet which has a mirror Silver finish.


Brushed
This is grained stainless steel sheet which has a matt/ satin silver finish.
