What is GW5000 gateway?

GW5000 is a light outdoor gateway, it's normally used on the LoRa networks for a wide range as a gateway router. It's applied often for areas with no NB-IoT network.

This gateway is equipped with SX1301 chip, it complies with LoRaWAN^TM. Receiving data from 8 channels at the same time, it has data packed into Ethernet data protocol packets, transmits data to LoRaWAN^TM network server in real-time. Meanwhile, it can accept the single task from the network server, convert Ethernet data into radio frequency data and send them to corresponding end-devices. It provides technical solutions for the bidirectional transmission of the Internet of Things.
 

The hardware configuration for GW5000 outdoor gateway router is very practical and useful. The CPU (central processing unit) is industrial-leve CPU with main frequency of 400KHz, which is sufficient for processing data packages of LoRanWan from many end devices symutaneously. This gateway router has large memory up to 64M DDR2 RAM, and a big flash space of 16M, enough for firmware to be stored with much function. 
This gateway router is water proof, serving for its outdoor purpose, with IP67 level of water resistance. This water-resistance level is sufficient to deal with normal enviroment like rain or high moisture.

This is because this outdoor gateway enables user to have 4G LET connection and WAN online for the same time. The load balance function is included so that under normal conditions, the gateway router will automatically choose whichever is faster to send data collected from end LoRa devices back to central cloud server or local control terminals. When WAN connection is down, it switches to 4G to ensure the stablity and Timeliness of data. And of course, the router will try to re-connect the falied port to get recovered. This function is important for some users with unstable telecom network in local areas like some countries in Africa or middle east.

This gateway is designed and used for IoT smart devices that communicate with LoRa protocols, such as smart electric meters, smart water meters, gas meters, physical sensors and etc. It's not suitable for connecting your personal PC to the internet. For that purpose, a normal router is better.

2. Can I use this gateway for large-scale commercial use?
Yes, this outdoor LoRaWan gateway router is used for commercial applications. The number of LoRa IOT devices it can process not only depends on its hardware configuration, but also the data transfer intervals too.
