Laminated glass is a type of safety glass produced by bonding two or more layers of ordinary annealed or tempered glass together with one or more interlayer(s). When broken, numerous cracks appear, but glass fragments tend to adhere to the interlayer.

Heat strengthened laminated glass (also known as semi-tempered laminated glass) provides an opportunity to offer larger window sizes to meet wind load requirements without the necessity of using thicker annealed glass. Heat strengthened glass also reduces breakage potential from thermal and bending stresses.

Fire rated glass (also known as fire resistant glass) is a special glass that has been proven to provide a period protection against fire during a fire resistance test. The use of fire rated glass is therefore an important component in building safety and building regulations specify where it must be used.

Multi-ply laminated glass consists of more than two plies of glass bonded together by PVB interlayers, where both of the outer surfaces are glass.

Laminated glass is widely used when there is a possibility of human impact or where the glass could fall if shattered, and for architectural applications.
