During cool weather the free cooler or watersize economizer is capable of handling the entire cooling load.
During warm weather, when the free coolers cannot cool as efficiently they cannot keep up with the cooling requirements so the system automatically switches the chiller system on to provide supplemental cooling.
This system provides a number of benefits:
The primary benefit is the energy savings. Turning off the compressor saves a huge amount of energy. Typically, running a free cooler can reduce your energy consumption by more than 75%.
Second this system guarantees a long operating life because most of the year the load is taken off the chiller and specifically the compressor. This significantly reduces the compressors yearly running hours and provides a longer system life span.
