Diaphragm seals the valve body and seat.The is no way to contact the environment.So this valve is suitable for asepsis process.When the valve is off.The pressure seal that holding up diaphragm moves towards to the sealing face of valve body.When the pressure plate moves,the diaphragm bending.forced towards to seat area of body center.So that to shut off the flow path to valve body.The relevant of valve body and pressure plate prevents the diaphragm pressing.The valve can be manual and air actuated,also can be operated by control top and soleniod valve.

HHygienic Stainless Steel U-Body Three Ways Diaphragm Valves work in the following ways-- From the Vacuum side,
when the valve is normally closed and there is vacuum in the tank, the vacuum piston inside the valve opens
automatically and draws air into the tank. In return, this keeps the pressure inside and outside the tank balanced.
From the Pressure side, when the valve is normally closed and the tank pressure exceeds the rated pressure
on the outside of the valve, the valve automatically opens and vents air  to atmosphere.
