Principle
Crystal violet will bind equally well to DNA in cell nucleus and make it colored. When it used to stain cells or tissues, the nuclei shows sharp purple and is easily differentiated in microscopy. Crystal violet staining has been widely used in cytology, histology and microbiology.

Instructions
For suspension cultured cells, add crystal violet solution to cell suspension for 3-10 min. put 1 drop of the sample on a glass slide and smear it to form a homogeneous film. Allow the smear slide dry in air.
For adherent cells, wash the cells with PBS or saline solution twice, 1-2 min each. Stain the cells with crystal violet solution for 3-10 min. Then wash with PBS or saline solution adequately, dry in air.
