Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) is an organic substance with the chemical formula C15H24O. It is a white crystalline or crystalline powder with anti-oxidation and anti-corrosion effects, low toxicity, non-flammable, non-corrosive, good storage stability, and can inhibit or delay the oxidative degradation of plastic or rubber and prolong its service life. It is widely used in various cosmetics. Dibutyl hydroxytoluene (BHT) is a carbolic acid antioxidant. It can inhibit lipid peroxidation. It can cause lung damage and promote tumor growth in mice, which may be caused by the metabolites of BHT, namely 6-tert-butyl-2-[2′-(2′-hydroxymethyl)-propyl]-4 -Methyl carbolic acid.

Applications
 

• Used as antioxidant for rubber and plastic, antioxidant for various petroleum products and food, feed, animal and vegetable oil, soap. It has good oil solubility and does not affect the color of the oil after being added. It is widely used in transformer oil and turbine oil. 
   
  1. As a general-purpose carbolic acid antioxidant. It is widely used in polymer materials, petroleum products and food
  processing industries. This product is a commonly used rubber antioxidant. It has a certain protective effect on heat and oxygen aging, and can also inhibit copper damage. It has no anti-ozone ability when used alone, but it can protect the vulcanized rubber from damage caused by various weather factors when used together with anti-ozonants and waxes. It can also be used as a gel inhibitor in styrene butadiene rubber.
