Magnesium heptahydrate sulfate (molecular formula

mgs04.7h20), also known as sulfur bitter salt, bitter salt, xie lixin

salt, Epsom salt, white or colorless acicular or oblique columnar

crystal, odorless, and slightly bitter, molecular weight: 246.47,

specific gravity of 1.68, soluble in water, slightly soluble in

ethanol and glycerin, soluble in its own crystal water 67.5c.

When it's decomposed by heat, 70, 80C is water that has lost

four molecules. About 200C loses all crystalline water to

anhydrous. In the air (dry) easy weathering for powder, when

heating, gradually remove the crystal water into anhydrous

magnesium sulfate.

food

As a food fortifier. China's regulations can be used for dairy

products, the amount of use is 3~7g/kg; The usage amount in

drinking liquid and milk beverage is 1.4-2.8g /kg. The maximum

usage in mineral drinks is 0.05g/kg

industrial

Add 4.4g/1001 water to increase the hardness of 1 degree, and

use it to produce bitter taste and hydrogen sulfide odor.

Used as leather, explosives, paper making, porcelain, fertilizer,

as well as medical oral laxatives, mineral water additives.
