Levamisole HCL is an immunomodulatory agent which selectively induces apoptosis in human micro-and macro vascular endothelial cells. In vitro studies suggest that Levamisole Hydrochloride has been used to cause cytotoxic effects in several types of tumor cell lines by potentiating the anti-proliferative effect of 5-fluorouracil. As a result of the cytotoxic effect of Levamisole Hydrochloride DNA fragmentation, release of cytochrome c into the cytoplasm, and the activation of caspase-3 has been observed in cells. Alternate studies have shown that Levamisole Hydrochloride can be used to inhibit the growth of Toxocara canis. Levamisole Hydrochloride has also been shown to increase T-lymphocyte function and macrophage chemotaxis in rheumatic disorder cells. Levamisole Hydrochloride is an activator of AChR.
