Die steel is used to manufacture cold die, hot forging die, die casting die and other molds of steel.  Mould is the main processing tool for manufacturing parts in mechanical manufacturing, radio instrument, motor, electric appliance and other industrial sectors.  The quality of the mold directly affects the quality of the pressure processing technology, the precision of the product output and production cost, and the quality and service life of the mold in addition to relying on reasonable structural design and processing accuracy, mainly by the mold material and heat treatment.  

     In the United States, die steel is divided into four categories according to the service conditions of molds. The Tool Steel Committee of the American Metal Society lists four categories: cold work die steel, hot work die steel, plastic die steel and plastic die steel .  Among them, cold work die steel is divided into 12 small, hot work die steel 9 small, plastic.

Material die steel 2 small class, plastic die steel 5 small class.  The selection of material for each subcategory depends on three main factors:  

     1.Complexity of size and shape,  

     2.Processed materials,  

     3.Durability requirements or design life.
