Fisetin is a flavonol, a structurally distinct chemical substance that belongs to the flavonoid group of polyphenols. It can be found in many plants, where it serves as a colouring agent. Its chemical formula was first described by Austrian chemist Josef Herzig in 1891.
Fisetin can be found in various plants such as Acacia greggii, Acacia berlandieri, in the yellow dye young fustic from Rhus cotinus (Eurasian smoketree), in Butea frondosa (parrot tree), Gleditschia triacanthos, Quebracho colorado and the genus Rhus and in Callitropsis nootkatensis (yellow cypresses). Function

1. Inhibition of prostaglandins: it inhibits the production of prostaglandin in the fibroblasts of 3T3 mice transformed by
methylcholanthracene. The half effective concentration (ID50) is 42.0UM.
2. Enzyme inhibition: It can inhibit the total sugar reductase of the lens of the rat's eye, and the effective half of the
inhibitory concentration is 10-6M
3. Antispasmodic: The anti-spasmodic effect of acetylcholine on the small intestine specimens of mice is 166% of
papaverine.
4. A group of Japanese and American researchers discovered through animal experiments that lacquerin in vegetables
and fruits helps improve memory.
