Metal injection molding (MIM) is a metalworking process in which finely-powdered metal is mixed with binder material to create a"feedstock" that is then shaped and solidified using injection molding.The ability to combine several operations into one process ensures MIM is successful in saving lead times as well as costs, providing significant benefits to manufacturers. MIM process
The injection molding process starts by taking fine powder metallurgy and mixing it with a binder material. The product of mixing metal powders with a binder is called "feedstock." Finally, the product must undergo a sintering process, which ensures that all the parts produced have the correct wall thickness, geometry, material composition, and physical properties. Using this process, a high volume of products can easily be made.
