Gefitinib (Irrecor, iressa) is an oral inhibitor of epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase (EGFR-TK). Inhibition of EGFR-TK inhibits tumor growth, metastasis and angiogenesis, and increases apoptosis of tumor cells.

Gefitinib is indicated for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with prior chemotherapy. Previous chemotherapy mainly refers to platinum agent and docetaxel treatment.
