Sodium fusidic acid, also known as sodium fumarate and sodium fusillate, is a narrow-spectrum antibiotic with steroid skeleton. It is a derivative of fusidic acid. It is white crystal or crystalline powder, odorless, bitter, slightly hygroscopic, easily soluble in water and ethanol, slightly soluble, insoluble in copper, ether and benzene. It was successfully developed by Leo pharmaceutical company of Denmark for the first time. The trade name is ristine. The tissue permeability of this product is strong. It is mainly metabolized in the liver and excreted by bile, almost not through the kidney. It has low toxicity. It has bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. It has good antibacterial effect on Gram-positive bacteria and good drug resistance. At the same time, it is resistant to penicillin Methicillin and other antibiotic resistant strains are still sensitive to this product, and there is no cross resistance between sodium fuxidate and other antibiotics used clinically.

   
USES & EFFECTIVENESS

     This product is a non cephalosporin antibiotic. At present, it has been widely used in the treatment of various infections caused by various sensitive bacteria, especially staphylococcus, such as osteomyelitis, sepsis, endocarditis, repeatedly infected cystic fibrosis, bacterial endocarditis, pneumonia, meningitis, diphtheria, tuberculosis, skin and soft tissue infection, surgical and traumatic infection, etc. Intravenous administration is used for severe infection or drug-resistant strain infection, as well as MRSA infection. However, because it is easy to produce drug resistance, it is often used as adjuvant drugs. Oral administration is effective in the treatment of pseudomembranous enteritis caused by Clostridium difficile.
      It is usually made into sodium salt in clinical application. Fusidic acid is highly sensitive to various gram-positive cocci related to skin infection, especially staphylococcus, is also effective against drug-resistant staphylococcus aureus, and has certain antibacterial effect on some Gram-negative bacteria.
