F'luticasone propionate is a high affinity, selective GR (glucocorticoid receptor) agonist (Kd = 0.5 nM). F luticasone propionate potently stimulates glucocorticoid receptor-mediated transactivation of gene expression and enhances human eosinophil apoptosis (EC50 = 3.7 nM) in vitro. Inhibits mast cell accumulation in nasal mucosa following topical administration. F luticasone propionate is a lipophilic anti-inflammatory agent.

Application
 

Topical corticosteroids share anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictive actions. The mechanism of anti-inflammatory activity of the topical coricosteroids is unclear. Various laboratory method, including vasoconstrictor assays, are used to compare and predict potencies and clinical efficacies of the topical corticosteroids. There is some evidence to suggest that a recognize correlation exists between vasoconstrictor potency and the therapeutic efficacy in man.
