Sodium Starch Glycolate is starch-like white powder. Odorless and tasteless. It dissolves in water at room temperature to form a colloidal solution. It is easily soluble in water under stirring, or it can be moistened with ethanol before adding to water. Making the aqueous solution acidic generates free acid that is insoluble in water, and the viscosity decreases. Alkali is more stable. Adding metal salts forms various metal salts that are insoluble in water, so it is not suitable for strong acid foods. It is not suitable for long-term contact with metal during manufacturing.
