Masterbatch is a kind of plastic additive used in the production of plastic products, its main function is plastic products coloring, defoaming and cost reducing, as well as achieving certain special functions and uses of plastic products, such as: corrosion resistance, UV resistance, antistatic, anti-aging, fragrance, flow pattern and so on.
Basic components of Color Masterbatch
1. Pigment or dye
Pigments are divided into organic pigments and inorganic pigments
Commonly used organic pigments are: phthalocyanine red, phthalocyanine blue, phthalocyanine green, sun resistant red, macromolecular red, macromolecular yellow, YONGGU yellow, YONGGU purple, azo red, etc. Commonly used inorganic pigments are: cadmium red, cadmium yellow, titanium dioxide, carbon black, iron oxide red, iron oxide yellow, etc
2. Carrier
It is the matrix of color masterbatch. The special color masterbatch generally selects the same resin as the product resin as the carrier, and the compatibility of the two is the best, but the mobility of the carrier should also be considered.
3. Dispersant
The melting point of dispersant should be lower than that of resin. It has good compatibility with resin and good affinity with pigment. The most commonly used dispersants are polyethylene low molecular wax and stearate.
4. Additives
Such as flame retardant, brightening, antibacterial, anti-static, antioxidant and other varieties, unless the customer requests, in general, the color masterbatch does not contain the above additives.

(1) Heat resistance: the most basic requirement of the pigment selected by the masterbatch is that it can stand the temperature in the production process and keep its performance stable. The general requirement of temperature resistance is above 270-280 ºC.
(2) Dispersibility: the pigment used for masterbatch shall have good dispersibility and be evenly dispersed in Masterbatch, and the dispersant used shall not reduce the quality of the product.
(3) Brightness: because organic pigments are bright and bright and easy to color, organic pigments shall be used for the above purposes.
(4) Light resistance: under the action of light, some pigments have photosensitive effect. When making masterbatch, we should pay full attention to the light resistance of pigments. When the light resistant pigments need to be used, we can consider adding ultraviolet absorbers.
(5) Stability: the pigment used in Masterbatch shall have excellent stability. It means that the pigment will not react with heat, light or high temperature for a long time.
(6) Water resistance, dry cleaning resistance, oil resistance, colored polypropylene fiber products are inevitably washed or solvent dry cleaned when they are used, and they should contact with oil agent, especially when they are used for carpet, so the color agent used should have good water washing resistance, dry cleaning resistance and oil resistance.
