SR696 Professional Waterproof Silicone Sealant with Excellent Weatherability

SR696 Weatherproof Silicone Sealant is a one-component, neutral cure, weatherproof sealing product specifically designed for general glazing and weather sealing in curtain wall and building facades. It easily extrudes and cures at room temperature by reaction with moisture in the air to form a durable, flexible rubber seal. Excellent unprimed adhesion to a wide variety of construction materials and building components

FEATURES & BENEFITS:
• One part formulation, Ready to use
• Ideal for expansion, connection, perimeter and other movement joints
• Excellent unprimed adhesion to most building materials, such as glass, aluminum and composite board
• Excellent stability through wide range of temperatures: -50°C to 150°C
• Excellent waterproof and weatherability, virtually unaffected by sunlight, rain, snow, ozone and extreme temperatures
• Good compatibility with other neutral silicone adhesives

APPLICATION:
• Weatherproof seal for glass curtain wall
• Weatherproof seal for Aluminum composite panel, terracotta panels and Enamel board curtain wall
• Joint sealing of concrete, metal, plastic, etc.
• Joint sealing of building roof
• Many other architectural and industrial us

USABLE LIFE AND STORAGE:
When stored at or below 27°C in the original unopened containers, it has a usable life of 12 months from the date of production.

LIMITATIONS:
• Can not be used as a structural sealant
Should not be used in totally confined spaces because the sealant requires atmospheric moisture for cure
Should not apply when surface temperature lower than 4 °C or exceeds 40 °C
• Not suitable for frosted or wet surfaces
Should not be used in below-grade applications
• Not suitable for continuous flooding or wet places all year round
• Not suitable for all materials that bleed oils, plasticizers or solvents, green or partially vulcanized rubber gaskets or tapes
• Do not touch any sealant that may release acetic acid
Should not be used If the sealant is intended to be painted
• Can not be used on surfaces that are in direct contact with food

Construction Project Technology Services:
 Adhesion test
Due to the emergence of new building materials and the application of new surface treatment technologies, we cannot guarantee that the sealant will be suitable for all materials, and in some cases the sealant and the materials used in the project will be tested for adhesion. Our laboratory can provide customers with adhesion test, evaluate the bonding performance of our sealant products and materials selected by customers, and test the results, product recommendations, surface cleaning methods and whether to use primers. Submitted to the customer in writing.

 Compatibility test
If the auxiliary materials for assembly such as foam strips and double-sided tape are incompatible with silicone sealant, the silicone sealant may be discolored or even lose its cohesiveness. In order to avoid such problems, our laboratory provides customers with compatibility testing services. Customers can express or through other means to send the auxiliary materials for the project to us. Our company's laboratories will conduct compatibility tests and give written test reports.

JOINT DESIGN:
Joint sealant is an important part of ensuring good weatherability for the building. The correct Joint design reduces stress on the sealant, provides optimum sealant movement, facilitates sealant application, and reduces sealant cohesive failure and reduces undesirable effects caused by curing by-products.
When use Hitakol silicone weatherproofing sealant, the following should be considered:
• The minimum joint width is 6 mm.
• The minimum joint depth is 6 mm.
• For larger joints, the width of the joint should be greater than the depth of the sealant. The ideal joint seal size is 2 to 1 for the width to thickness of the sealant.
• Avoid three-sided bonding and use a backing rod or tape on the bottom of the joint to ensure that the sealant is only bond to the edge of the joint and free to move at the joint.

 Surface Cleaning
The surface of the substrate should be thoroughly cleaned, dried and flattened to completely remove any residual impurities and the original sealant. For non-permeable surfaces, such as glass and sprayed aluminum alloys, use a clean, white, lint-free cotton cloth dipped in a non-oily solvent such as methyl ethyl ketone, propanol or 75% alcohol to remove greasy and contaminants; Wipe off any residual solvent and contaminants with another dry cloth.

 Primer:
Primer is usually not required to use this product. If you need to use a primer for some materials according to the results of the material adhesion test report, please use the primer provided by us.

 Masking Tape
The area near the joint needs to be covered. By using masking tape, the working line of the seal can be perfectly neat, and the appearance of the periphery of the joint is clean and the surrounding sealant can be prevented from contaminating the surface of the substrate. Never use tape onto the surface where the sealant will be applied.

 Backing Materials
If backing material is required, use a closed-cell type polyethylene or open-cell polyurethane foams, or similar material at the bottom of joints to control the depth of sealant. For shallow joints, use low-viscosity polyethylene tape as the backing material. Avoid three-sided bonding by preventing the sealant from sticking to the bottom of the joint.

 Applying sealant
Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle according to the desired shape and size. Install the tip and place the plastic cartridge or soft sausage into the caulking gun which can use a pneumatic glue gun or a manual glue gun. Apply sealant, continuously squeeze in and fill the joint, do not simply place the sealant on the surface, because the sealant will not fill the joint under its own weight.

 Tooling:
Immediately tooling after applying sealant, the joint surface is trimmed to make it smooth and flat, and to ensure that the seal is fully adhesive to the edges of the joint. Finishing should be done before the sealant crust. It is recommended to use a convex tool to level the joint so that the joint is filled with sealant. When sealing the horizontal joint, it must be trimmed to prevent any liquid (such as rain and detergent) from remaining on the sealant. Do not use soap or water as a finishing aid. The masking tape is removed after trimming and before the sealant crust. Do not touch the sealant surface within 48 hours after surface curing. Avoid contact with detergents or solvents (such as bleach) during the curing of the sealant. The uncured sealant can be moved and cleaned with a solvent such as xylene, toluene or methyl ethyl ketone. Appropriate precautions should be observed when using flammable solvents. The cured sealant does not dissolve and is applied to the blade for moving.

PRECAUTIONS:
Please read the safety data sheet of this product prior to use
• Avoid contact with eyes before curing. If contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water and consult a doctor
• Pay attention to ventilation in the construction and curing areas
• Uncured products should avoid contact with children
