Melting point is 22.5ºC, boiling point is 235ºC, 81-81.5ºC (307Pa), relative density is 0.9883 (20/4ºC), refractive index is Chemicalbook 1.56145, flash point is 90ºC. It is miscible with chloroform and ether, soluble in benzene, ethyl acetate, acetone, carbon disulfide, petroleum ether and alcohol, but insoluble in water. It is sweet and has a special aroma of fennel.
